Govt. Higher Secondary School Hawal was established in 1960. The school was raised to the status of higher secondary in the year 2006. It is located in village Hawal of District Pulwama at the tail end of the district. The school is approachable by an all weather road. The school is coeducational and consists of grades 9 to 12. The school has 3 academic blocks, a well equipped Science Lab, 2 Smart Classrooms, ICT Lab, Virtual Lab and library.
